My Dog is My Saviour

Working from home, as many have found out during the pandemic, can lead to a decline in both physical and mental health; a commute measured in metres not kilometres, proximity to the fridge and spending too long sitting down can make Jack a dull boy.

I feel very grateful to my dog Xander - 45kg of Husky Malamute - for keeping me in good shape. He has an amazing sense of time and a very strict routine, which he imposes on me with the threat of assault. Meals, walks and playtime must all take place on time.

As a result, I get in my 10,000 steps a day, shoot the breeze with other dog walkers and can focus strongly on my editing when my 'duties' are done. Sometimes, I even get a big slobbery kiss. Thanks Xander, thanks dogs of Britain.
