Essay Proofreading and Editing
Are you worried about your essay? Would you like me to take a look at it? I can proofread and edit essays in all subject areas.
What is the difference between proofreading and editing?
Proofreading includes fixing language issues such as grammar, spelling, punctuation, word choice and style. Editing, on the other hand, focuses on making sure that the meaning and logic of your work are crystal clear; this involves carefully reviewing your essay as a whole, at the paragraph level, and the sentence level to make sure that your essay is coherent (i.e. it makes sense and is logical) and cohesive (i.e. your ideas are joined up properly) and that you express yourself clearly in a manner that conforms to the expectations of your lecturers. In my experience, it is the editing element that adds the most value; it is something that Grammarly and ChatGPT cannot do!
My service combines proofreading and editing as standard to give you the best results possible.
When I proofread and edit your work, I review the following issues:
- Word choice
- Academic tone
- Sentence structure
- Consistency of terminology and style
- Citations and references
- Logic and meaning, coherence and cohesion
I will make appropriate changes and suggestions using track changes in Word and deliver to you a marked-up copy and clean copy with my suggestions accepted.
